China-based smartphone maker Xiaomi has officially unveiled its new flagship phone Mi5.
As expected, Xiaomi lifted the lid on the latest device in its Mi series at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, where former Googler and current global VP for Xiaomi Hugo Barra gave the first glimpse of the Mi5 phone.
Xiaomi has emerged as one of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers since the launch of its first mobile phone way back in 2011, but they’re only available in China and a handful of Asian countries.
Mi5 Hardware Specifications
The Xiaomi Mi5 has a 5.15 inch full HD (1920 x 1080p) display. It features the latest Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm which is incredibly fast. It is said to be 100% faster than Snapdragon 810.
It has been given a 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB UFS 2.0 Internal memory on its top variant. It also comes in 3GB+32GB and 3GB+64GB variant. Mi5 is the first device to be shipped with UFS 2.0. UFS 2.0 is much superior to the eMMC 5.0/5.1 which are seen on most of the smartphones these days.
Mi5 Camera & Connectivity Specifications
It gets a 16 megapixel camera (Sony IMX298 sensor) which has 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization which is a first in smartphones and does a superb work in getting stable photos and videos. It also has Phase Detection Auto-Focus and DTI technology. Front gets a 2 micron large pixel 4MP camera. Connectivity includes 4G+ (LTE advanced) and supports upto 600Mbps speeds. It also supports VoLTE.
Mi5 Design Specifications
Mi5 takes the design cues from Mi Note and has a metal frame and 3D ceramic body. Sides have a 3D curved ceramic body. At the front, it gets a home button which holds the fingerprint sensor. With all this, the phone weighs just 129 grams. It comes in Black, White and Gold color.
